Half Perfect World: A memoir of growing up between the jungles of Belize and suburbs of Detroit
My sister Rosie and I have a special bond. We are the girls from the jungle, with stories about snakes, tarantulas and killer bees. Much of our childhood was spent in the southern reaches of Belize, Central America long before this gem of a country became an international tourist destination. Without running water or electricity, Rosie and I entertained one another with rag dolls, imaginary friends, and a battery powered radio broadcasting the BBC and the VOA. We did not have a lot, but we had each other.
